Academic Elbląg
Elbląg entered the European Union with four independent
higher schools and three local departments of higher schools
from Olsztyn, Gdańsk, and Warsaw. At present, there are
approximately 7 thousand students in the city.
The State Higher School of Vocational Education is a
stand-alone public higher school established in 1998. The
School educates on regular and extramural courses in the
engineer and bachelor systems, in the following lines:
information technology, administration, economy, English,
German, and Polish philology, pedagogy, environment
protection, mechanics and machinery construction, electrical
engineering.
The S.H.S.V.E. is implementing the European Credit Points
System which will allow to continue studies at a number of
universities in the EU. It cooperates with universities in
Germany, Sweden, and Latvia.
The Applied Information Technology Institute, having the
state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, prepares professionals
for serving the Information Society. The following
certificates are available here: European Computer Driver's
License and Cisco Certified Networking Associate, Oracle
Academy, and Microsoft.

Elbląg Academy of Humanities and Economics is not a State
school. It was set up by decision of the Minister of
National Education and Sport dated 18 October 2001. E.A.H.E.
educates in 4 directions and 13 specializations. In the
school year 2004 / 2005 those were: pedagogy
(re-socialization, social work, health education, tutorial
pedagogy), administration (public administration, European
administration, spatial management), management and
marketing (marketing-oriented enterprise management,
logistics, forwarding and transport, economic turnover),
political science (social and civic education, European
studies, regional politics). E.A.H.E. also offers 24 lines
of post-graduate studies. The Academy employs 64 scientific
workers, including 27 professors and 25 doctors. Currently,
there are approx. 3000 students.

Bogdan Jański Higher School came into existence in 1993. It is
a private school, specializing in higher level education for
persons taking up bachelor-level and Master-degree studies
on an intramural and extramural basis. The primary line of
instruction at the Field Division of Bogdan Jański Higher
School in Elbląg is management and marketing in the
specializations: organization management, real estate
management, tourist management, European integration.
Currently, the School is preparing 3 new lines of study:
tourism and recreation, spatial management, and
international relations.

The Higher Theological Seminary of the Elbląg Diocese is a
higher school preparing future priests to live in, and serve
the Catholic Church. The Seminary is a selective school, and
over 11 years it educated and gave 80 priests. The alumni of
the Seminary are at the same time students of the Faculty of
Theology at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn
with all the rights vested in university students. The
course ends in defending the Master's thesis in theological
sciences and receiving holy orders.

The Teachers' College of Foreign Languages Regent runs 3-year
bachelor studies in English philology. Scientific and
didactic supervision over the Regent College is exercised by
the English Faculty of Gdańsk University. The instruction at
the College takes place in the intramural and extramural
systems. The Regent College undergraduates, having defended
their diploma papers, receive the English philology bachelor
diploma of Gdańsk University.
